Cancer Center

A generous gift from Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hall Singletary enabled Archbold Medical Center to open the Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center in 1988. Since then, patients of southwest Georgia and north Florida have had access to the most modern technology to fight cancer, close to home.

The Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center brings together medical oncology, radiation oncology, the renowned Gamma Knife Center and other cancer treatments and coordinated patient/family care, all under one roof. Its close proximity to Archbold Memorial Hospital ensures the ready availability of other medical and surgical services as needed.

The Center beats with the hearts of a caring staff committed to providing the patient with everything available to restore health.

We are very excited to announce that the Archbold Medical Center Board of trustees approved a plan of finance for the new Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center which will allow construction to begin on this important project.  Design and development documents for the new Oncology Center have been underway for many months with input and feedback from our staff, physicians, community leaders, architects and project managers.  Construction of a new oncology center will begin next month with a projected completion of the building in late 2010.

An essential component in building a state-of-the-art facility will be community support through charitable gifts.  The oncology program began more than 20 years ago because of the vision and generosity of Lewis Hall Singletary and hundreds of donors who wanted that vision to become a reality.
