North Tower Project

The North Tower represents the largest construction project in the history of Thomasville and Archbold’s largest capital investment in patient care since the original structure was built in 1925. The North Tower was thoughtfully designed to optimally serve patients, staff and physicians by substantially increasing operational space essential for delivering the best patient care. The emergency department (ED) is four times the size of the former ED, and rivals the finest emergency departments in the nation for patient comfort, efficiency and service. The surgery department includes a larger waiting area designed with the patient’s family in mind, 15 patient rooms designated for pre-op and patient recovery, six surgical suites, a specialized urology suite and a post-anesthesia care unit (PACU)—with 11 bays designed to provide care for patients recovering from anesthesia. In addition, a fully integrated surgical suite was implemented specifically for the daVinci Si Surgical System, a robotic surgery system that offers physicians an innovative, effective minimally invasive option for complex surgical procedures. Four of the tower’s eight floors are devoted to inpatient patient care. These floors house 114 new patient rooms, including 12 IMCU rooms and 18 ICU rooms. The spacious private rooms provide adequate space for family members to participate in the healing process of the patients and afford a greater measure of privacy for the delivery of bedside treatments.
