Archbold to Offer Lecture on Treatment Options for Sinus Problems

Saturday, August 27, 2011

Sinusitis affects 37 million people each year, making it one of the most common health problems in the country.

Sinusitis, also called rhinosinusitis, occurs when the lining of the sinuses—air spaces behind the bones of the upper face, between the eyes and behind the forehead, nose and cheeks— become inflamed, swollen and infected. Symptoms such as facial pain, difficulty breathing, headaches and fatigue are uncomfortable and may significantly affect people physically, functionally and emotionally.

As part of Archbold Memorial Hospital’s continuing Health Talk free community lecture series, John S. Gilbert, Ontolaryngologist will present a free community lecture titled, “Sinus Problems and Treatment Options” on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Dr. Gilbert will discuss symptoms associated with acute and chronic sinusitis, as well as medical and surgical treatment options.

Dr. Gilbert is on the medical staff at Archbold Memorial Hospital and practices at the Archbold Ear, Nose, Throat and Allergy Center. Gilbert treats diseases of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck, and performs facial, plastic and reconstructive surgery, including Balloon Sinuplasty— a minimally invasive procedure performed to open the natural outflow tract of a blocked sinus.

To learn more about treatment options for acute and chronic sinusitis, please attend this Health Talk. The lecture will begin at 6:00 p.m. and be held at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Light dinner will be served.

Pre-registration is requested, call 229-227-5140 or RSVP by email to rsvp@archbold.org.
