Grady General Hospital Earns Joint Commission Accreditation

Grady General Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for accreditation by demonstrating compliance with national standards for healthcare quality and safety in hospitals. The accreditation award recognizes GGH’s dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s standards.
The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 19,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the United States, including more than 10,300 hospitals. The Joint Commission is the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare. The standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts, providers, measurement experts and patients.
"In achieving Joint Commission accreditation, Grady General Hospital has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients," says Mark Pelletier, R.N., M.S., executive director, Hospital Programs, Accreditation and Certification Services, The Joint Commission. “Accreditation is a voluntary process and I commend Grady General Hospital for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”
The hospital underwent a rigorous unannounced, on-site survey this spring. A team of Joint Commission surveyors evaluated GGH for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.
“Joint Commission accreditation is a testament to the hard work of our staff—doctors, nurses and support staff—and their commitment to provide patients the highest level of care,” said LaDon Toole, Grady General Hospital administrator. “Earning the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval is very rewarding for our hospital and our community.”
