John Mansberger, MD, Hosts Health Talk on Weight Loss Surgery
Wednesday, June 20, 2012
When it comes to shedding pounds, it may seem as if the scales are tipped against you every time.
Researchers continually find new ways to show us just how much our weight is tied to uncontrollable forces such as our genes, our neurology and our hormones.
Scientists even say our odds of becoming obese may be partly encoded in our DNA.
In a world where we’re surrounded by advertisements, large portions and other cues to consume, it can seem impossible to stay focused on reaching our weight loss goal.
“Don’t think of losing weight as a losing battle, said John Mansberger, MD, medical director of Archbold’s Bariatric Weight Loss Program. “Instead, acknowledge the things you can’t change and adjust those you can.”
There are multiple factors that can trigger a person to finally make the necessary lifestyle changes to lose weight, but maintaining the motivation can often be difficult.
The Archbold Bariatric Weight Loss Program offers a comprehensive, individualized range of weight loss services, including a weight loss surgery component, commonly referred to as Lap-Band® or bariatric surgery. The unique program is designed to help patients achieve their weight loss goals, improve their overall health and enhance their quality of life, while the unique support system helps patients stay positive, focused and motivated.
As part of Archbold Memorial Hospital’s continuing Health Talk free community lecture series, Dr. Mansberger will present, “The Archbold Bariatric Weight Loss Program, featuring Lap-Band® Surgery” on Thursday, June 21, 2012.
Dr. Mansberger will discuss obesity related health conditions and medical weight loss options available to help patients achieve their health goals. Mansberger will discuss weight loss surgery, the medical criteria essential for a patient to qualify for surgery and the strong support system available to patients before and after the procedure.
Dr. Mansberger is board certified in integrative medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Mansberger serves as the Bariatric Weight Loss Program director, overseeing the evaluative and support portions of the program.
To learn more about weight loss options, including Lap-Band surgery, please attend this Health Talk. The lecture begins at 6 p.m. and will be held in the East Tower classroom at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Light dinner will be served. Pre-registration is requested, call 229-227-5140 or RSVP here.
