GGH Laboratory Receives Accreditation

The clinical laboratory at Grady General Hospital recently received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) based on results from a recent on-site examination.
A team of CAP inspectors examined the hospital’s laboratory records and quality control procedures for the preceding two years. The four areas examined were personnel and safety, quality improvement, technical process and proficiency testing.
The CAP certification is a nationally recognized award, and Grady General Hospital joins a group of 7,000 facilities worldwide who have earned this laboratory accreditation.
“Our laboratory staff works very hard to provide our patients the highest standard of care,” said Marsha Mercer, GGH laboratory manager. “The accreditation is a testament to their dedication and demonstrates GGH’s commitment to provide patients safe and high-quality care.”
