Archbold Hosts Free Childbirth Education Class
Tuesday, March 5, 2013
Planning for the birth of your baby is one of the most exciting times in your life.
And knowing what to expect can make the experience even more wonderful.
Archbold Memorial Hospital will host a free childbirth education class on Saturday, March 9, 2013. The class will be taught by mother/baby nurse Jessica White, RN, MSN, who is also certified as an instructor by the Academy of Childbirth Educators.
“We encourage all pregnant women to take advantage of our childbirth classes, especially those in their third trimester,” said White. “We’ll discuss what to expect during pregnancy and labor, as well as how to care for yourself and your newborn once you return home.”
White said expectant mothers are also encouraged to bring a spouse, friend or family member with them to the class.
Topics covered include recognizing the signs of labor, useful relaxation and breathing techniques, epidural and pain management, preparing birth plans and breast feeding education.
Childbirth education classes are offered free the second Saturday of every month as a clinical outreach effort to uphold Archbold’s core value of Community Benefit. The classes are held from 9am until 3pm in the Williams Auditorium located in the East Tower at Archbold Memorial Hospital, and a healthy lunch is served for participants. Pre-registration is requested. For more information or to register, call 228-2943 or click here
