The purpose of the South Georgia Medical Education and Research Consortium is to improve access to quality healthcare, and to support regional economic vitality, through training and retaining physicians, especially in primary care specialties such as family medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, internal medicine, general surgery, and emergency medicine, in South Georgia. It is the goal of the Consortium to stimulate interdisciplinary training opportunities throughout the region for a wide range of health professionals
