We welcome your family and friends to come and enjoy this special time with you and your family. Please read below carefully for our visitors’ policy.
Our visiting was designed above all to protect the health and well-being of mothers and newborns in our care. Adult visitors who are not ill are welcome between 10 a.m. and 8:30pm. The newborn’s siblings, at any age, may visit with an adult. Other children who visit must be 12 years old and supervised.
Please refer to our Visitor Policies located here for the most up-to-date COVID policies for our Labor & Delivery department.
Skin-to-skin means your baby is placed belly-down, directly on your chest, right after they are born. Your care provider dries them off, puts on a hat, covers them with a warm blanket and places them on your chest. The first hours of snuggling skin-to-skin let you and your baby get to know each other. Skin-to-skin contact also has important health benefits. If the infant needs to meet the pediatrician first, or if you deliver by c-section, you can unwrap them and cuddle shortly after birth. Newborns crave skin-to-skin contact, but it’s sometimes overwhelming for the new mom. It’s ok to start slowly as you get to know your baby.
Your baby will stay in your room with you following birth. This will allow you to learn your baby’s needs and give your baby warmth, comfort and security. The staff is here to answer your questions and teach you about caring for your baby.
Obstetrics and pediatrics will be involved in the discharge of you and your baby on the day you go home.Your infant’s car seat must be brought to the hospital on discharge day.
Pack your suitcase and baby’s bag before you come to the hospital. They can be brought in after you have delivered and are in your room.
