Archbold Memorial Boosts State and Local Economy

Annual economic impact data released by the Georgia Hospital Association highlights the Archbold system’s billion-dollar impact on the state economy. The GHA data reveals that Archbold Memorial in Thomasville contributes $844,025,402 to the economy of Thomas County. Archbold’s four hospitals contributed nearly $1.2 billion to the statewide economy. This update is based on 2023 data and uses an independent third party’s modeling.

Archbold’s mission is to provide safe, innovative and compassionate care. Through this mission, the four-hospital system also strengthens state and local communities throughout the region.

“While our primary mission will always be to provide access to high-quality, compassionate, and cutting-edge care, we are proud of Archbold’s significant positive impact on the economy of South Georgia,” said Darcy Craven, Archbold President and CEO.

Archbold Memorial’s economic reach extends beyond healthcare, sustaining jobs in a range of industries. GHA’s data shows that the Archbold system supports 5,292 total jobs across Georgia. Archbold Memorial supports 3,641 jobs in Thomas County, including 1,486 full- and part-time roles at the hospital. Together, these direct and indirect jobs generate $379,975,831 in household earnings across the state.

"Archbold is our number one employer, and each dollar the hospital's employees spend here in Thomasville turns over seven times in our community," shared Shelley Zorn, Thomasville-Thomas County Payroll Development Authority Director. "When prospective industries, small businesses and individuals are considering moving to Thomasville, one of their first questions is often about our healthcare system. I am always happy to share that Archbold is a name they can trust."

Archbold has been a pillar of the region since 1925, helping patients through medical emergencies and everyday healthcare needs. From state-of-the-art cancer treatment to dependable primary care, Archbold strives to serve area residents at all stages of life.

“Archbold is committed to providing high-quality, patient-focused healthcare,” said Craven. “We are proud to have been a leader in our region for more than a century.”
