Today in Archbold History: Archbold Living-Cairo Holds Grand Opening

September 17, 2023

Archbold Living-Cairo, the newest long-term care facility in the Archbold System, held an open house and officially opened to the public on September 17, 2023, two years ago today.

The 66,000-square-foot facility is connected to Archbold Grady and features 75 beds, both private and semi-private; the semi-private rooms are a new design that provides each resident with their own bedroom area. The facility offers rehabilitation services, skilled nursing services, wound care and medical care.

Construction began following the ceremonial groundbreaking on May 24, 2021. The facility welcomed its first residents in December 2023 and had 25 residents by the first week of March 2024.

Archbold Living-Cairo represented a $25 million investment in Grady County, one of the largest ever in the community's history. It allowed residents of Grady County and surrounding communities to have their loved ones closer to home instead of having to travel for care.

Archbold Living-Cairo provides services beyond what many assume in a nursing home. The facility provides therapy for people who may need therapy for a limited time, up to twelve months. It also serves as a training ground for future CNAs enrolled in Cairo High School’s work-based learning pathways.

The staff and residents quickly formed relationships with the Cairo community. Visits from the Jackie Robinson Boys & Girls Club, the City of Cairo Fire Department, and students from Grady County Schools have been exciting occasions for all.
