Archbold Grady has introduced a Withdrawal Management Service, a voluntary inpatient program for adults seeking to medically withdraw from prolonged substance or alcohol abuse. The program aids withdrawals from the abuse of alcohol, opiates and benzodiazepines, also known as anxiety medications.
“Our goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment by providing 24-hour medical care, medications to minimize withdrawal symptoms, and private rooms for patients,” shared Program Director David Griner. “Our motto is simple: help is a phone call away.”
Substance abuse can negatively impact a person's personal and professional life. During withdrawal, a person frees themselves from the substance to begin recovery. A medically managed withdrawal is the safest way to rid the body of dangerous toxins caused by substance abuse.
“When you’ve used drugs or alcohol habitually for a long time, your body can begin to rely on it to feel normal,” said Community Education Director Wendy Beatty. “When the drug isn’t taken, withdrawal symptoms will start to appear that vary in severity based on the drugs used, physical health, age and method of withdrawal.”
The average length of stay in the Archbold Grady program is 3 to 5 days. The inpatient setting offers the advantages of constant medical care and supervision as well as access to treatment if serious complications from withdrawal arise.
“Medically managed withdrawal is just the first step to the path of recovery,” explained Archbold Grady Administrator Crystal Wells. “Our team helps patients develop a plan to continue their recovery journey after discharge.”
The preferred method of admission to the Withdrawal Management Service is referral by a primary care provider. When necessary, patients may also self-refer. Referrals can be made 24/7 by calling the admissions team at 229-516-3494. All patients entering the program must be willing and able to give consent.
The Withdrawal Management Service at Archbold Grady is open to adults aged 18 and older, including pregnant and post-partum mothers. The program accepts Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Medicare Plans, Managed Medicaid Plans and most other commercial insurance.
