The holiday season brought many visitors to Archbold Living-Pelham as community groups throughout Mitchell County stopped by to bring joy to residents and staff. Staff at the facility report that 22 different churches, civic organizations, businesses and individuals stopped by, gave residents gifts and made donations to the activities department during the season of giving.
Among the groups and individuals who made donations or brought gifts were the Pelham Rotary Club, Autry State Prison, The Give Back Project, Power House of Deliverance, Circle of Life Church, Presence of Joy, the Hill Family, Cornerstone Church, Chastity Cox with Mary Kay and Vebra Thomas.
"We had individuals who gave cross-stitch ornaments, quilted coasters, blankets, handmade hats, hand-painted vases and flowers," shared Alene Cox, activities director at the long-term care facility. "The love, fellowship and kindness given to our residents was overwhelming, and we are truly thankful for our community and friends."
Upward Bound students caroled and crafted ornaments with residents, and the Women's Round Table from First Baptist Church Pelham hosted a tea party. Teresa Brady and family hosted a party with special treats. Connection Church, Virtuous Girls Youth, Midway Baptist and the Pelham Garden Club delivered cards. Even Santa Claus stopped by—twice—and the elves and Grinch came along once.
"Our facility may be on the edge of town, but our friends and neighbors consistently show us that we're at the heart of this community," Cox added. "I am proud to work at a facility so well regarded by our community, and I'm proud to serve the people who call it home."
