About Cory
Dr. Messerschmidt is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, with special training in sports medicine and arthroscopy. This includes the diagnosis and treatment of athletic injuries and conditions of the shoulder, knee, and foot/ankle. Dr. Messerschmidt grew up in Chantilly, VA. He attained his Bachelor of Science degree at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA where he graduated with high honors, followed by his medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC, where he served as chief resident. As a resident, he received numerous awards including best in-training examination test score and best clinical science research project. He then went on to complete an additional year of specialty training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA in sports medicine. While at Emory, he helped take care of a wide variety of patients and athletes, including the Atlanta Falcons (NFL) and Georgia Tech athletics (NCAA). Outside of the office, Dr. Messerschmidt enjoys spending time with his wife and children. His hobbies include running, playing golf and tennis, adding to his vinyl record collection, and grilling in the backyard. Dr. Messerschmidt's professional outlook is simple: to help patients of all ages and activity levels stay healthy and active so they can enjoy the most out of life!- College
