  • Have a body mass index (BMI) or 40 or greater
  • Have a BMI of 35 or greater and at least one obesity-related health condition (diabetes, heart disease, etc.) that puts you at risk
  • Have a history of trying to lose weight with no lasting success

Before Surgery

Surgery isn’t a quick fix. First, there’s work to do.

  • Work toward a healthy and sustainable diet plan. You will eat easily digestible foods, including protein shakes.
  • Exercise. Aim for 20 minutes a day a few times a week.

Remember the goal. Surgery is about more than your waistline. It gives you a new lease on life.

After Surgery

Once surgery is finished, you’ll develop a lifetime of new habits.

  • Maintain your diet. Adopt a healthy eating plan high in protein and low in fat for the best results.
  • Keep moving. Regular exercise helps you burn calories, manage stress and control your appetite.
  • Stay in touch. Working with your provider helps you stay on the path to victory. Time for a fresh start.
