New Murals Bring Hope and Healing to Archbold Northside

Archbold Northside recently unveiled new murals inside its facility, transforming spaces with vibrant works of art designed to inspire hope, healing and resilience.

Created by Richard Curtis, former Associate Professor of Art at Thomas University and Archbold Auxiliary Member, the murals were the result of a collaborative process that included input from both employees and patients. Curtis carefully crafted pieces that reflect the beauty of nature while promoting a sense of comfort and encouragement.

“I originally met with staff to gather ideas for imagery, and then later, after talking with patients, I incorporated imagery using the words and phrases that give them hope,” said Curtis. “It was a beautiful process.”

The murals feature elements representative of community spirit, creating an atmosphere that is both calming and uplifting. More than just works of art, the installation serves as a reminder of strength, healing, and the connections that unite patients, families and caregivers.

Funded through a grant, the project highlights Archbold Northside’s commitment to enhancing the patient experience and creating an environment that supports emotional well-being alongside physical care.

“We are extremely grateful for the art Rich created,” said David Griner, administrator at Archbold Northside. “It brings us all together with a sense of calm and reflects the hope and resilience we see every day within our facility.”
