The Archbold Women’s Center is home to the most advanced screening and diagnostic imaging technology in the region. Our on-site, board-certified radiologists use 3D mammography, targeted diagnostic breast ultrasound, MRI technology, and breast biopsies to detect and diagnose breast cancer in the earliest stages, most often before a lump can even be felt.

A breast ultrasound is a painless procedure often used in conjunction with mammography to determine if a lump or mass is solid tissue or a fluid-filled cyst. An ultrasound may provide additional information to confirm the composition of a lump or mass and to help determine the proper follow-up care.
An ultrasound is not typically a screening tool and should not routinely be used in place of a mammogram. A physician may order an ultrasound or a radiologist may recommend using one in place of a mammogram if certain conditions are present.
Breast MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a specific type of breast imaging that may be recommended by your physician to screen for or diagnose breast cancer.
Gynecological concerns and pregnancies are two of the most common reasons your doctor will order a pelvic or obstetrical ultrasound. The Archbold Women's Center has a private ultrasound suite where pregnant women may allow selected members of their families to be present during these procedures. Your doctor may also order a pelvic ultrasound to rule out or detect benign and cancerous abnormalities.
To ensure accuracy and to prevent unnecessary surgical procedures, special views or other additional types of diagnostic procedures are sometimes necessary.
We understand the need for additional imaging or a "call-back" procedure may be an alarming experience for many women. Our experienced team of technologists is dedicated to doing everything possible to prevent unnecessary call-backs. For women with complicated structures of breast tissue or dense breast tissue, our on-site radiologists will determine if additional views or procedures are needed.
