Archbold Offers Metastatic Prostate Cancer Treatment

Patients with advanced prostate cancer have access to a revolutionary treatment at Archbold Cancer Center. First offered at Archbold in 2025, the comprehensive cancer treatment facility in Thomasville was the first in Southwest Georgia to provide the recently FDA-approved therapy.

Pluvicto, a cutting-edge therapy, is designed to specifically target prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA+) cancer cells, delivering radiation directly to them while minimizing damage to healthy tissue.

“About one in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and the risk is even higher in the African American community,” said Archbold Oncologist Steve Johnson, MD. “This treatment is proven to help some men live longer and slow the growth of their tumors.”

Pluvicto is a targeted treatment that attaches to a particular type of prostate cancer cells, using radiation to kill those cells while limiting damage to healthy cells. The drug is given intravenously in up to six doses, one every six weeks.

“At Archbold Cancer Center, we are proud to offer advanced treatments like Pluvicto that have the potential to improve our patients’ quality of life,” said Executive Director of Oncology Robin Mullins.
