LSVT BIG is an intensive, research-based physical and occupational therapy program designed to improve movement, balance, and quality of life for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions. Developed from the principles of the LSVT LOUD speech therapy protocol, it trains the brain to recalibrate its sensory perception so patients learn to override slow, small movements (bradykinesia) with larger, more typical functional movements.
The program seeks to train patients to move with greater effort with the goal of walking faster, improving balance, gaining independence, and facilitating improved brain function.
LVST BIG is offered at Archbold Therapy-Quitman and Archbold Therapy & Sports Medicine in Thomasville.
Archbold is also proud to offer specialized Parkinson’s speech therapy programs to patients with Parkinson’s disease. Learn about Parkinson’s treatment.
